Richard Ronald

Professor of Housing, Society and Space, University of Amsterdam

Richard Ronald is Professor of Housing, Society and Space at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Distinguished (visiting) Professor in Housing Studies at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. He has also been a guest Professor at the University of Birmingham (UK), National University Singapore and Kyung Hee University (South Korea). His research, focusing on the role of housing in social, economic and urban transformations in Europe and Asia Pacific, has been funded by various bodies (including the European Research Council; the Australian Research Council; the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science). He is the current Editor of Palgrave Macmillan’s ‘Contemporary City’ book series and former Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Housing Policy. Richard sits on various funding and scientific advisory boards in Australia, Canada, Germany, Poland, Sweden and the UK. He originally graduated from Nottingham University and Nottingham Trent University in the UK and was a Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellow at Kobe University in Japan.
