Josephine Hart

Josephine Hart is a proud Djaru, Walmajarri woman, born and raised in Darwin.

Josephine has worked with NGO’s and Government businesses and secured a substantive position with the Western Australian Housing Authority in Halls Creek before moving to Broome and working on the Jalbi Jiya “Your Home” Program for Nyamba Buru Yawuru. Josephine purchased her first home at the age of 20 and speaks passionately about the change it can make to a person’s pride, self-esteem, and wellbeing.

Jalbi Jiya provides affordable housing for local Aboriginal families who may aspire to home ownership. The program has seen four families achieve home ownership since commencing in December 2020, with another three families currently working with lenders with a view to progress to home ownership.

Jalbi Jiya is an investment of the North-West Aboriginal Housing Fund, an initiative of the State Government supported by the Departments of Communities and Primary Industries and Regional Development, and the Commonwealth Government.
