Humair Ahmad

Humair Ahmad is a social and affordable housing specialist. An architect and urban planner by education, he is currently the Director Community Housing at the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. Humair has played a direct role in the growth of the community housing sector in NSW by leading initiatives such as the Social Housing Management Transfer Program, Community Housing Innovation Fund and Together Home. He has also worked on the asset vesting program and more recently helped design the services stream of the Social and Affordable Housing Fund. Humair oversees the delivery of a range of crisis and transitional housing, private market head leasing and affordable housing programs. Over the last 15 years Humair has supported achievement of social and affordable housing outcomes through robust commissioning of services in a complex multi-provider housing system. Before moving to Australia Humair worked on various low cost housing and infrastructure projects for people living in urban informal settlements and disadvantaged rural areas.
