Debbie Avery

Debbie is a proud Gumbaynggirr woman with more than 20 years’ experience in the finance industry including Indigenous Business Australia and previously in the retail sector.

In her earlier role at the Aboriginal Housing Office, Debbie worked as the Regional Project Officer for three years in the Home Ownership program in the Northern region where she and her team assisted Aboriginal people on their journey to home ownership.

Debbie has family who are living in social housing and private rental accommodation and understands the cycle of housing dependency.  Her goals is to assist ‘mob’ in realising that the dream of home ownership can be a reality.

Debbie’s proudest moment at the AHO is when the Home Ownership program received an Honourable Mention at the NSW Premiers Awards in 2022.
